Manchester United may not get Kylian Mbappe out of France

It’s no secret that Manchester United and Real Madrid are both desperate to add Monaco star Kylian Mbappe this summer. Unfortunately, the starlet has given both clubs bad news with his most recent comments. He’s highly interested in another Ligue 1 club.

That club, of course, are French heavyweights PSG. Mbappe revealed that he found the idea of moving to Paris “attractive” yesterday to Telefoot. Those comments will certainly put officials for the Parisian club on high alert.

Unai Emery’s squad have been on the lookout for star talent since losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer. They were able to add Julian Draxler in the winter window, but they’ll still be very active during the summer.

Purchasing Mbappe would accomplish two crucial things for PSG in one transaction. First, they would add a marketable French star that would thrill their local fan base. Secondly, and perhaps just as important, they would weaken their chief rivals for the Ligue 1 crown. They’ll certainly want to see as much high level talent leave Monaco as possible this summer.

More from Manchester United

Of course, Monaco would prefer to hang on to Mbappe this summer. Even if they are forced to sell, their preference would be to ship the exciting young forward out of the country. Selling him to a club like Manchester United or Real Madrid would cause the club a lot less pain than sending him to PSG. In Paris, he can torment them in the league for years to come.

In reality, all United or Real Madrid need to do is make sure that PSG don’t blow their transfer bids out of the water. If they are willing to equal the amount of cash the French giants offer, then Monaco will try to steer the deal in their favour. It’s a tougher purchase for PSG than any other European giants.

Still, PSG’s involvement could certainly cause the transfer price to increase significantly. He’d be perfect for them on the pitch and in the local community. At the very least, their involvement will cause Mbappe’s price to approach the world transfer record.
