Manchester United lining up the next N’Golo Kante
Manchester United want to sign Wilfred Ndidi
You can’t blame Manchester United for being oblivious to their surroundings. Jose Mourinho’s club is contemplating a swoop for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. United hope this summer move could provide them the same benefits that purchasing N’Golo Kante has provided Chelsea.
It’s quite easy to draw parallels between Ndidi and Kante. Both men rose to prominence playing in the centre of the pitch for Leicester City. Each arrived to the Premier League as a relative unknown, but quickly announced their arrival with a string of top performances. The Foxes will hope they’re able to hold on to their current midfield product for a bit longer.
Unfortunately, reports from England claim that Ndidi will demand a transfer if Manchester United come calling. His agent was quoted via a Nigerian football website as saying that a move to a club of United’s stature would be a no-brainer for his client.
In sharp contrast, current Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare has vowed his club will put up a fight if necessary. He quickly pointed out that Ndidi is tied to his current club with a long-term contract. Shakespeare quipped that the Foxes are also allowed to turn down transfer bids.

If United are able to complete a move, Ndidi could be the perfect partner for Paul Pogba in Mourinho’s midfield. The Frenchman is a world-class player, but he lacks the discipline to stay in the middle of the pitch to cover his back four. Ndidi is quite a talent as well, but he’s more content to stay at home and be more of a defensive player. His presence in the lineup would give Pogba the freedom to display his full array of talents.
Manchester United want Ndidi to do the same thing for them, that Kante’s done for Chelsea. Conte’s midfielder isn’t the flashiest player in England, but he’s frighteningly efficient. Kante rarely puts a foot wrong on the pitch. His efficiency allows Chelsea attackers the freedom to do what they do best.
