Luke Shaw has publicly been criticized by Jose Mourinho. He is just the latest victim of Mourinho’s habit of throwing players under the bus

Luke Shaw has become the latest recipient of stinging criticism from Jose Mourinho. The 21-year-old full back has fallen out of favor with the United boss.

Mourinho recently compared Shaw to Ashley Young, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Davey Blind and said that Shaw is a “long way behind” his teammates. It’s becoming more evident that the former Southampton player is not a part of Mourinho’s plan at Manchester United.

Shaw came on as second half substitute in United’s midweek draw against Everton. He played well but that didn’t stop his manager from finding something to complain about.

When asked about Shaw in the post match press conference Mourinho said,

"He [Shaw] had a good performance but it was his body with my brain. He was in front of me and I was making every decision for him. The communication was possible because we were very close. I was thinking for him, when to close inside, when to open, when to press the opponent, I was making every decision for him."

If Mourinho thinks he is motivating the player by publicly humiliating him, he is crazy.

Shaw should take comfort, however from the experience of past Mourinho scapegoats. A number of top players have been cast out by the “special one” only to prove how wrong their manager had been.

Here are five examples of other Mourinho victims who went on to make the manager look foolish.
