Juan Mata

Juan Mata was a part of Chelsea’s 2011-2012 Champions League winning side. In two and a half years with the Blues, the Spaniard made 135 appearances in all competitions and scored 33 goals. He was voted Chelsea Player of the Year by the fans in May of 2012.

When Mourinho was rehired by Roman Abramovich for the 2013-2014 season, the good times came to an end for Mata. He found himself on the bench and a peripheral part of the squad.

Mata fell so far out of favor the he was allowed to sign with rivals Manchester United during the January 2014 transfer window.

The attacking midfielder has continued his strong play and has become a popular member of the Red Devils.

As fate would have it, Mourinho and Mata have been reunited in Manchester. This time it was Mourinho making the move north.

It appears that the pair’s once frosty relationship has been repaired. Mata has certainly proved his worth and maybe, just maybe, Mourinho realizes how wrong he was.
