Advanced talks between Monaco and Belgian star Youri Tielemans could see the youngster signed this summer
The ridiculous amount of youth talent coming out of Monaco could add another blossoming star. Anderlecht midfielder Youri Tielemans is all but officially signed to the club, having been in contact with Monaco already. Both the club and player want the deal to go through, so it seems only a matter of time before he is signed to the French club.
Having the best season of his career statistically, Tielemans has been on the radar of many of the top clubs in the world for years. His ability to boss the midfield as a 19-year-old is something that every club could use in their squad. It seems that every match he plays that his vision and ability to pick a pass improves. With 11 assists in all competitions this season, Tielemans is proving he can play the role of set up man very well.
The power that Tielemans can produce when shooting from distance is another incredible asset to the young Belgians game. Having scored 18 this season in all competitions, Tielemans proves match after match that, given a yard of space, he can smash the ball past any keeper. He has even had the captain’s armband for a few matches at the end of the season, proving that he can lead a team, even at such a young age.
Where Tielemans fits in Monaco
For Monaco, signing Tielemans would mean replacing one of their current midfielders. There are rumors that French midfielder Bakayoko will be sold to make room for the Belgian. Only 22, Bakayoko plays the coveted position of defensive midfielder in the Monaco side. His ball winning ability in vital areas makes him a highly sought after individual, with Monaco more than willing to sell him on. The reported fee of around £45 million for Bakayoko certainly helps the French giants make their decision.

Moving to Monaco would be a fantastic move for both the clubs involved and Tielemans himself. The youth system at Monaco has produced an insane amount of talent over the years, so it is no surprise that this deal is in the works. Not known for keeping players for very long, it will be interesting to see where Tielemans goes after a few years at Monaco.
The power clubs of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern could come knocking if Tielemans adjusts well. Until then, the young Belgians will need to keep his head down and keep producing for Anderlecht.
