4. Mousa Dembele
One of the most under-appreciated midfielders in the league, Mousa Dembele is a very important player for Tottenham Hotspur. Signed from neighbors Fulham in 2012, the Belgian has been one of the most consistent performers at the club in the last four and a half years.
The likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen take all the plaudits, but Dembele is a very important part of the Tottenham team. He is a mainstay of the Tottenham Hotspur midfield and his exemplary work-rate and strength are the reasons why. The 29-year old is a steely defensive midfielder who never seems to give the ball away. Dembele makes ball retention look effortless and never shies away from a tackle.
“I always say to him, ‘Mousa, when I write my book, you will be one of my genius players that I have been lucky enough to meet,’” Pochettino said last month about his Belgian star.
He is one of those players who is well admired by his team-mates and manager but fails to get media recognition. And it is high time that Dembele gets more praise as he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.
