Curtis Davies – 87 interceptions

Hull City are in crisis mode at the moment. The Tigers are 17th in the table and just two points above the relegation zone.

One of the positives for the Yorkshire club has been the play of defender Curtis Davies. The center-back leads the league with 87 interceptions. That is nine more than his closest competitor, Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny.

That’s what makes Curtis Davies’ current situation so odd. The veteran defender is fit again after missing eight weeks due to a hamstring injury. Despite this, he is presently on manager Marco Silva’s bench.

With Davies and captain Michael Dawson out injured, Silva tried a new pairing. Youngster Harry Maguire and on loan Italian defender Andrea Ranocchia are now first choice.

Whether Davies sees more action this season or not, he has already put up impressive defensive numbers.
