Alvaro Morata is fed up with life at Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s most prolific goal scorer this season isn’t Karim Benzema or even Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s Alvaro Morata who scores the most goals per minute for Los Blancos. Unfortunately for the La Liga giants, the Spanish striker is desperate to leave the club this summer.

Reports from Spain claim that Morata has directly told club captain Sergio Ramos that he’ll be leaving during the summer transfer window. They’ll be plenty of interest in the prolific hitman, but Chelsea remain the prohibitive favourite to win his services. Antonio Conte would love to arrange a reunion with his former striker.

The Blues boss would install Morata to lead his club’s attack from day one. Diego Costa has performed well this year, but he isn’t Conte’s cup of tea. The former Italy gaffer wants a younger, more reliable option to lead the Chelsea line. In the event that Morata arrives, Costa will likely be sold to China.

Curiously, Real Madrid would need to dip into the transfer market to find their replacement for Morata. Benzema would continue to serve as Zinedine Zidane’s first choice centre forward, but the club don’t have a ton of options after that. Mariano doesn’t seem ready to take up Morata’s place in the squad at this point in his young career.

More from Real Madrid

It will be quite interesting to see what sort of fee Real Madrid are able to get for Morata. It’s easy to forget that he’s still just 24 years of age. He’s still quite young for his level of experience. Any club that acquires him can feel comfortable that his game will only improve over the next several seasons.

Of course, if he moves to Chelsea it may be part of a much larger transaction. Los Blancos continue to be linked with Eden Hazard more and more every day. Morata could serve as a makeweight in a move for the talented Belgian.

Whether he’s headed to Stamford Bridge or not, expect to see Alvaro Morata in a new kit next season. His days at Real Madrid are near an end.
