Chelsea FC news: Recent reports have stated that not only Marcos Alonso, but also Victor Moses, Diego Costa and Gary Cahill may have been suffering from an unknown virus prior to their 2-0 loss to Manchester United.

Chelsea FC news: Blues defender Marcos Alonso withdrew from the game against Manchester United during the warm-up due to feeling unwell. Now, The Telegraph also state that Victor Moses and Diego Costa played through the virus despite feeling unwell. Additionally, Gary Cahill has been in hospital the last two days due to a “mystery illness”.

The Telegraph are usually a pretty reliable source so the news that four of Chelsea’s first team have been ill is highly likely.

Other reports from the Guardian also claim that the club think this virus may have resulted from the team’s bonding exercise outing to a restaurant last Thursday prior to the Manchester United clash.

Now, It seems Gary Cahill has been suffering from the same illness although it hasn’t been confirmed as to why he’s been admitted to hospital. Cahill is possibly ruled out for the Tottenham FA cup clash this weekend.

Now I’m not one to believe in conspiracies like this but is it possible that the Chelsea team were poisoned in their meal outing prior to the Manchester United game?

Although it could have just been a simple case of accidental food poisoning or the virus could have been caused unintentionally in the food canteen at Chelsea’s training ground.

It wouldn’t be the first time a sports team have been allegedly poisoned prior to an important game. The New Zealand All Blacks rugby team were allegedly deliberately poisoned prior to a World Cup final many years ago in which the All Blacks lost. to the South Africa Springboks. The conspiracy was never fully proven but the team were all suffering from an unknown virus.

It’s suspicious that four of the Chelsea first team players have all been feeling unwell this week. Yes, it makes sense though that a completely innocent case of a virus spreading through close proximity in the training ground has caused it but the timing and the nature of the illness has raised questions.

Were the Chelsea team given food poisoning on purpose? Was it accidental? Why is Gary Cahill in hospital now? May have it been cause by a disgruntled employee at Chelsea or perhaps by a fanatic rival fan?

These are all questions that will remain as the Blues prepare for their crucial FA cup tie this weekend. Although the virus has clearly happened last week. It could’ve happened by anything innocent or otherwise.

But these are purely conspiracy theories so far and nobody can be sure of what or how the team has had four players ill this week.

Chelsea fans will be hoping that Diego Costa, Marcos Alonso, Victor Moses and Gary Cahill are feeling better soon for their semifinal tie against Spurs.
