Centre Back: Toby Alderweireid

What can I say. I hate using football cliches but this man is quite simply a rock in Tottenham’s defense. A brick wall. A protector.. etc etc.

He’s helped Spurs to keeping the Premier League’s highest 13 clean-sheets (although he was injured for a period of time).

He is consistently reliable and always seems to have the knack of being in the right place at the right time.

The Belgian has an average of 1.4 tackles per game, and 0.8 interceptions but his 5.7 clearances per game is one of the highest for central defenders. He is always there to get the ball away from his goal.

The Belgian has struck a fearsome partnership with fellow Belgian Jan Vertonghen as one of the most defensively astute and protective defensive walls in the game. It’s not easy to score against Spurs.
