Goalkeeper

Real Madrid had the luxury of one of the world’s best goalkeepers for a number of years with Iker Casillas, and it is certainly no surprise that the club crave a top-class individual for the position. While he has had moments of brilliance during his time at the Bernabeu, Costa Rican international Keylor Navas appears set to be replaced in Zinedine Zidane’s side.

Recent mistakes from Navas have clearly hurt, but Real Madrid once again seem intent on bringing in a talent that they have had their eye on for quite some time. After a deadline day transfer fell through at the last second in 2015, Florentino Perez will once again make a move for Manchester United’s David de Gea.

According to recent reports, Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois may be an option if the Red Devils make the pursuit of de Gea a tricky process.

Spain’s number one keeper instantly upgrades the Real Madrid defence, providing one of the best at the position behind the back-line. De Gea’s positioning and instincts are world-class, and he is in his prime at the age of 26.

With a need for more consistent play at the back, expect to see Real Madrid break the bank in acquiring one of the game’s top goalkeepers this coming summer.
