Left-back

One of the great characters in recent Real Madrid sides, Brazilian left-back Marcelo has been a significant part of the club’s formula for success. The 28-year-old likely will have more years with his current side, but that may not keep Florentino Perez from making moves for the future this summer.

While it certainly may not be a simple transaction, Real Madrid have been rumoured to be very interested in Atletico Madrid youngster Theo Hernandez. The feeling is mutual according to recent reports as well. The 19-year-old full-back has impressed during a loan with Alaves in the current term.

Showing excellent potential with his defensive positioning and ability to get forward when needed, Hernandez is a talent that Real Madrid will not want to miss out on. While it may not take place right away, Marcelo’s desire to one day return to his native Brazil is noteworthy as the club find his heir at the left-back role.
