4. Spurs need silverware

Tottenham are coming into their own and winning accolades from pundits and fans all over England. That terrific form isn’t going to mean anything without some silverware. The FA Cup still represents Tottenham’s best chance to win a trophy this year.

That doesn’t mean Spurs should give up on the Premier League race, but they still trail Chelsea on that front. In sharp contrast, everyone enters the FA Cup semifinals on equal footing. Tottenham simply need to win two matches in a row to hoist a trophy.

You can be sure that everyone in the Spurs dressing room is acutely aware of the need for silverware. The club’s passionate fan base are desperate to win something. If Pochettino can pilot this Tottenham squad to win the FA Cup, everyone at the club will earn a place in Spurs history.

In fairness, it isn’t as if Chelsea players don’t have a drive to win silverware. They’ve all done it before though. The drive to win your second or third trophy just isn’t as profound as the need to win your first. That desperation will help drive Pochettino’s squad to victory.
