Arsenal record another 5-2 victory as Adebayor sees red

It was Groundhog Day at the Emirates in November 2012. Nine months after the Gunners defeated Spurs by a score of 5-2, it happened again.

Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor was at the center of things early on in this one.

The Togolese striker gave the visitors an early 1-0 lead in the tenth minute. He celebrated as Arsenal fans seethed.

Adebayor went from hero to zero eight minutes later when he received a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on Santi Cazorla. Tottenham were down to ten men with more than 70 minutes left in the match. That’s when the game changed.

Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud gave Arsenal a comfortable lead as the home side went in to the break up 3-1.

Cazorla added a fourth in the 60th minute.

Gareth Bale gave his side a consolation goal with twenty minutes left.

Theo Walcott made sure it ended 5-2 with Arsenal’s fifth in added time.

Arsenal fans went on to serenade their rivals with “It’s happened again, it’s happened again”.
