Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal renew one of the English Premier League’s biggest rivalries on Sunday when they face off at the White Hart Lane.
The North London derby is one of the fiercest rivalries in English football. Tottenham and Arsenal have taken part in some memorable matches over the years. The teams have faced each other 183 times, out of which 78 have been won by Arsenal, and Tottenham have tasted victory 55 times.
Sunday’s match is of great significance for both sides and could have a huge impact on where the two sides finish come the end of the season. Tottenham are fighting for the league title and are four points behind leaders Chelsea. While Arsenal are struggling at sixth place and are need to win all their remaining games if they are to finish in the top 4.
The game could have huge significance in the two clubs’ rivalry as well. If Tottenham beat Arsenal on Sunday, they will finish above their rivals for the first time in 22 years. It would also be a big boost for Spurs’ title ambitions. Tottenham have been one of the most consistent teams in the league and have won their last 8 league games and go into the game in top form.
Arsenal on the other end are struggling. They have lost four of their last five league games, which has seen them slide down to sixth place. They desperately need a win against Tottenham if they are to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for a 20th consecutive season.
