Tottenham had an easy time against Arsenal

If you tuned into yesterday’s North London Derby looking for a classic between Tottenham and Arsenal you were likely disappointed. It was a satisfying win for Spurs fans, but the match itself was pretty average. Mauricio Pochettino’s side dispatched Arsene Wenger’s group like the mediocre side they are.

That doesn’t mean there weren’t some standout performances on the Spurs side though. In particular, Pochettino’s spine was excellent. Expect to see really high marks from Victor Wanyama and Jan Vertonghen in particular. Neither star put a foot wrong all afternoon against the Gunners.

Unfortunately, the high marks won’t permeate Pochettino’s attack. Some of Tottenham’s attackers will receive low grades for being pretty wasteful on the afternoon. If you can’t understand that line of thinking, simply recall the two golden chances Spurs failed to convert in the first half.

In the end, Tottenham won a very workmanlike match. It wasn’t anything special, and that was entirely indicative of the current chasm between the two clubs. Read on to discover which Tottenham players stood out in the 2-0 derby win.
