Goalkeeper

Barcelona’s attack can be truly overwhelming for any opposition, even against some of the best in the world. But when a side has the ability to remain in the opponent’s half, there is an extra emphasis on quality goalkeeping at the back. The Blaugrana will need to ensure that the goalkeeper position possesses the qualities needed to push them toward even greater success next season.

25-year-old Marc-Andre ter Stegen has had his inconsistencies at times, but is beginning to develop into what the club expected from the German international. Ter Stegen’s play has attracted attention from around Europe as well, with Pep Guardiola and Manchester City rumoured to be very interested in bringing the talented keeper to England.

Barcelona’s new manager will likely have targets in mind during the summer, but it is certainly worth noting that the club may have their goalkeeping answer within their own team if ter Stegen does in fact leave. Dutch international Jasper Cillessen could take on a more prominent role in the Catalan’s line-up.

The former Ajax shot-stopper arrived at the Camp Nou a year ago, and brings with him incredible skill at the position.

Barcelona crave consistency on the pitch. This summer may see change required at goalkeeper in order to achieve this objective.
