PSG are ready to splash the cash for Riyad Mahrez
When news broke that Riyad Mahrez was determined to leave Leicester City, Premier League clubs like Tottenham and Arsenal were immediately on high alert. Unfortunately for the English duo, PSG are set to outbid them for the talented Algerian winger.
Reports from England claim that Mahrez will lead a mass exodus of Leicester stars this summer. Some Foxes stars might stay depending on who manages the club next year, but Mahrez isn’t in that group. He’s determined to join a bigger club as he enters the prime of his career.
He didn’t have a great Premier League campaign this season, but he was outstanding for his club during Champions League play. His stellar play on such a big stage has earned him quite a few high-profile suitors.
Both Tottenham and Arsenal are being strongly linked with Mahrez. Each club would like to strengthen their respective attacks to mount a Premier League title challenge next season. Adding a player who has proven he can thrive in England’s top flight would be attractive to both Mauricio Pochettino and Arsene Wenger.
Unfortunately for both managers, a foreign power has come in to drive Mahrez’s price up. PSG are anxious to add star power to their club this summer. They haven’t quite managed to fill the void left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s move to Manchester United. While Mahrez can’t do that on his own, he could at least provide some of the goal production necessary.

PSG are willing to open the bidding at £35 million for Mahrez. That bid won’t be enough to knock Arsenal or Tottenham out of the race. Of course, PSG aren’t going to be afraid to increase their bid to win the player either. Their financial advantage over both Premier League clubs immediately makes them the favourite to sign Mahrez this summer.
It’s possible that the player could value remaining in the Premier League, but that doesn’t seem likely. Mahrez strikes me as the sort of player who will want to maximize his earnings. PSG will almost certainly be willing to pay him the highest wages of any club involved in the race.

If Tottenham or Arsenal want to sign Riyad Mahrez it’s going to cost them a pretty penny. PSG hold the financial advantage. In all likelihood, the North London clubs’ best hope is for the French giants to sign another attacker to distract them from acquiring Mahrez.
