Tottenham player ratings v Manchester United: Wanyama dominates the midfield

Tottenham sent White Hart Lane off in style

In the midst of all the hoopla surrounding the last match at White Hart Lane, an actual football match broke out between Tottenham and Manchester United. Spurs sent their ground off in style with a convincing 2-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s side.

The victory allowed Mauricio Pochettino’s squad to join the party after the match. Plenty has been written about the scintillating celebrations. This piece will focus on the actual match.

From the Spurs perspective, there were plenty of positive performances to go around. In particular, Tottenham ruled the midfield. Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier were everywhere for 90 minutes. United couldn’t find the answer for their physical, assertive play.

While the middle of the Tottenham lineup was excellent, the play was sporadic in the front and the back. Read on to discover which Spurs players actually played a match worthy of the massive occasion.
