Mourinho throws his players under the bus

Mourinho was known as “the special one” for years. His magic touch appears to have subsided over the past two seasons.

The manager does not take criticism very well. He is quick to lash out at everyone and anyone, including his own players. Some of his high-profile victims include David Luiz, Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne. This season he has taken out his frustrations on Chris Smalling, Daley Blind and Luke Shaw.

This method of placing blame generally doesn’t motivate players to work hard for their manager.

Add to this Mourinho’s tendency to moan and complain publicly when things don’t go his way.

Rodriguez would benefit most from a coach that offers encouragement rather than scorn.
