Victor Wanyama-9
We’re all running out of positive words to describe Wanyama’s play this season. Once again, he used his powerful frame to control the midfield for the full 90 minutes. He has an uncanny ability to snuff out an attack before it even begins.
As we’ve talked about more in recent weeks, Wanyama’s offensive game has continued to develop as the season’s progressed. It wasn’t just his goal that impressed me today, it was how confident he’s become carrying the ball forward. Now, when the attack becomes mildly bogged down, Wanyama can unlock the defense by carrying the ball forward. It’s a scary development for the rest of the Premier League.
Eric Dier-8
The young Englishman has ended the season on a bright note. After struggling mightily as a central defender, he’s blossomed once again as a defensive midfielder. That was on display again versus Hull.
Dier didn’t register an assist of his own, but his passing was hugely influential during the match. His scoop pass to free Kieran Trippier to assist Harry Kane’s second goal was particularly impressive.
I’m not sure what the future holds for Dier, but I’d be surprised if he isn’t at Tottenham next season. His ability to adapt and play multiple positions is just too valuable for Pochettino.
