Arsenal strike back at Bayern Munich with massive contract offer
Arsenal are serious about keeping Alexis Sanchez
Bayern Munich are still very interested in signing Alexis Sanchez this summer, but the Gunners aren’t going to let him go without a fight. Arsene Wenger’s recent contract offer to the Chilean star is proof of the club’s intentions.
Reports from England claim that Arsenal have stepped up and offered Alexis a deal that would take his salary to just over £270 thousand per week. That doesn’t quite equal the reported £300 thousand Alexis’ representatives had requested, but it’s pretty close. It’s also believed that performance clauses in the deal could take his compensation north of his requested wage packet.
At the very least, this is a massive signal of intent by Arsenal. Many fans have been highly critical of Arsene Wenger and company for their lack of willingness to make a competitive offer for Alexis. Their latest contract offer should make them serious contenders to keep their star attacker.
Of course, wages aren’t Alexis’ only issue with his club. He’s also very concerned about his ability to win silverware. It’s very possible that he’ll look for additional assurances from club officials about their other plans for the summer transfer window. Alexis wants to see the club sign more players that he perceives to be on his level.

That’s one advantage that Bayern Munich will still try to lord over Arsenal. Carlo Ancelotti’s club clearly has more talent than the Gunners. Even in a relatively down season, they were able to win a Bundesliga title. The ability to dominate their domestic league will be very attractive for Alexis.
The other primary advantage Bayern will enjoy is their ability to offer Champions League football next season. At this stage of his career, Alexis will not be looking forward to the prospect of languishing in the Europa League. Simply put, he’s used to displaying his wares in Europe’s most prestigious competition.

Gunners fans can take comfort in the fact that their club are willing to invest the necessary funds to keep their best player. They still, however, need to worry that their mediocre season will cost them Alexis Sanchez’s services.
