Just what does Liverpool FC need in the summer transfer window?
Goalkeeper
Speaking of inconsistent play, the goalkeeping situation for Liverpool has been, well, interesting.
Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius are not the keepers the Reds need for the Champions League and I imagine they both know it.
Karius was a bargain for around £5 million from Mainz last season. He’s had some encouraging performances, but still a bit young for the grueling league season ahead.

Mignolet has gotten better as the season progressed, but again isn’t situated for a Premier League and Champions League run at the same time. He did have nine clean sheets this season, so there’s that.
But, we are talking about an upcoming season that will test the depth of the team and neither Karius nor Mignolet can shoulder that. Even together, it would be a challenge.
Enter the biggest name discussed … Iker Casillas.
Yup, he is on his way out of FC Porto on free transfer this summer. The 36-year-old Spanish international has won trophies all over Europe.
The question is: Is it a risk Klopp is willing to take? Short answer … not likely. However, with a need for depth, the free transfer and experience could be a boost.
