The Team of the Season remains in the Spanish capital, with one of Real Madrid’s key figures playing a critical role in the title race. Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos and his strong play throughout the season helped bring the club their 33rd La Liga title.

The 31-year-old centre-back has the ability to make an impact at both ends of the pitch, and scored seven goals during the league campaign.

The Santiago Bernabeu has been home for Ramos for over a decade, yet his performances continue to amaze and were important to Real Madrid’s La Liga triumph this year. With excellent vision, strength and accurate passing, manager Zinedine Zidane is able to rely on a consistent presence in central defence.

But what truly separates Ramos from his peers is his skill in the attack, and striking in the crucial moments of matches. His equaliser in the dying minutes against Barcelona in December was a special moment, and it certainly wasn’t his only one of the season.

Goals from defenders can sometimes be considered a luxury. But for Sergio Ramos this season, that aspect was combined with solid defending to help Real Madrid lift La Liga’s crown.
