Number 8: Adam Lallana v Leicester City

Some goals are great because of the exciting build up. Others are great because a player shows a moment of incredible technique. Others, like this one, are great because the burst the back of the net!

The ball is laid off perfectly by Sadio Mane as is just begging to be hit. Pleading to be struck with force and venom. Crying out to be spanked like an insolent toddler. Lallana is happy to oblige.

Everyone like a power shot in the back of the net but I’ve always enjoyed this type smash the best. It reminded me of a Steven Gerrard strike against Everton  as it is powered into the opposite side. Adam Lallana manages to place it right in the top corner giving Kasper Schmeichel no chance.

There is perhaps no player that has benefitted from Jurgen Klopp’s arrival at Liverpool more than Adam Lallana. His willingness to run and press is essential to the German’s system. Combining that a sumptuous first touch and a trademark turn has made the Englishman a trusted member of Klopp’s team and a favorite on the Kop. He now forms a key part of a deadly attacking quartet alongside Mane and the Brazilian pair of Coutinho and Firmino.
