Man City in advanced talks with Ederson

Man City are in advanced talks to sign Benfica goalkeeper Ederson this week, which will be the clubs second transfer of the summer window already.
Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are expected to continue to rebuild their team this summer after a disappointing with the club closing in on a deal for Benfica goalkeeper, Ederson with the club already in advanced talks to seal their second transfer of the season.
Manchester City had a disappointing season given their own expectations with the club not winning any silverware this season with them finishing third in the Premiership, dumped out of the FA Cup in the semi-finals by Arsenal and eliminated by a young Monaco team in the round of sixteen in the Champions League.
City have already made their first signing of the season with the club announcing the arrival of Monaco playmaker Bernardo Silva and are expected to also sign Benjamin Mendy from Monaco as well with Ederson along with plenty of players leaving the club such as; Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Jesus Navas, Pablo Zabaleta, Willy Caballero with more expected to leave this summer on free contracts with more expected to be sold this season.
City are in desperate need of a goalkeeper who can play to the way that Pep Guardiola expects of a goalkeeper. He wants a keeper who is good with the ball at his feet and can play out from the back which is a major reason for why he decided to loan out Joe Hart to Torino this season and bring in Claudio Bravo from Barcelona.
Bravo was arguably the worst signing of the season and struggled to adapt to the Premiership where a very shaky debut game against Manchester United saw him lucky to remain on the pitch seemed to sum up his season. Bravo was incapable of saving even the most of basic shots that came towards him and cost City a number of points throughout the season before being dropped from the first team.
Ederson is capable of doing everything that Pep Guardiola wants him to do on the ball to start attacks from the back along with being a terrific shot stopper as well. Ederson is one of the best young goalkeepers in the world at the moment with him only being twenty-three years of age. City will be breaking the world record fee for a goalkeeper Ederson but given his age and potential to grow, the move will be worth it for them should Ederson be able to live up to expectations.

This should be the first signing City make of many to improve their defence given that the club currently have no fullbacks and only one goalkeeper with Bravo also expected to leave the club this summer along with Joe Hart. City’s defence has been their biggest weakness for several seasons now with the club having several failed attempts for the last three summer transfer windows to improve their backline which will have to be Pep’s biggest move this summer to get in a better goalkeeper along with two new fullbacks and another centre back to accompany John Stones.
