He was the star of their Premier League title-winning season but now Algerian midfielder Riyad Mahrez is wanting to leave.

After a proposed move to Arsenal fell through last summer Mahrez knuckled down to tackle Leicester’s Champion League attempt. Now the Foxes are back in mid-table mediocrity the 2016 PFA Player of the Year wants to cash in on his dramatic rise in status.

The 2015/16 season was a stellar rise for Mahrez. He led the Leicester City title charge with 17 goals and 11 assists. This season saw an inevitable dip in Leicester’s fortunes as they sought to compete on multiple fronts. The Algerian’s league form regressed but his Champions League form was excellent. He grabbed 4 goals and 2 assists in just 9 games proving that his talent transfers to the highest levels of European soccer.
