After a title-winning season filled with strategy, determination and raw talent, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte could be leaving the Blues

Football Italia has reported that Conte could leave Chelsea due to the club not allowing him to spend the money he needs to bring in new players. Chelsea have made just one summer signing, bringing in Rangers midfielder Billy Gilmour for £500,000. With clubs like Manchester City and Everton already going on their third signing of the summer, the Blues will need to start spending to keep up.

The lack of funds at Conte’s disposal are making it hard for the Italian coach to bring in the players he wants. Big names like Lukaku, Bonucci and Bakayoko will all cost the club big money to acquire. Frivolous spending will limit the club’s options dramatically in today’s market.

It is ridiculous that this is happening at a club as successful and wealthy as Chelsea. The club just won the Premier League and undoubtedly has the funds Conte is requesting. The money from the sales of Begovic, Atsu and Cuadrado total £33 million. Combined with the reported £152.8 million from the title and TV deal, Chelsea should be loaded with cash.

With the way that Conte revolutionized Chelsea, it’s hard to imagine him not getting everything he asks for at the club. He completely changed the system, switching players from their prefered positions to ones that only he could teach them to learn and love.

Not allowing him to spend money on players he knows will improve the team just shows how hard-headed the higher-ups at Chelsea are.

Losing Conte would be disastrous for the club. Conte brought energy, passion and a master plan to every match he managed.

The raw emotion he shared on the sidelines made him a very likeable figure around the league.

He made Chelsea fun to watch again, reviving them from the terrible season they suffered in 2015/2016.

Chelsea’s owners need to realize what they are doing before it is too late. Conte is a special kind of coach that does not come around too often.

Allowing him to spend on the players he needs for his system would be, and should be, the only way moving forward.

Failing to do so could result in the loss of a tactical genius and the end of a very short-lived era.
