Chelsea are ready to make a massive move for Romelu Lukaku

It’s no secret that Chelsea are in the market for a new centre forward. The Blues have also been linked with Romelu Lukaku for months. It seems that Antonio Conte is finally willing to move forward for the prolific striker.

Reports from England claim that Conte is urging the Chelsea board to do whatever it takes to bring Lukaku to Stamford Bridge. That includes making a world record transfer bid. It may take the Blues over £100 million to coax Everton into a making a deal.

In fairness to Chelsea, the decision to wait on Lukaku may end up benefiting the club financially. Everton already seem to be spending the money from the striker’s sale in advance. The Toffees have spent massive cash to bring the likes of Davy Klaassen, Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford to Merseyside.

It’s very possible that Everton officials are starting to get a little nervous about their cash outlay. New ownership has lessened the financial pressure at the club, but they still aren’t operating with a blank cheque. Ownership would be happy to see some money come back to the club via a big transfer sale.

Lukaku is, of course, the club’s biggest asset. Ronald Koeman has been adamant that he doesn’t want him to leave, but most believe his exit from Everton is inevitable. Koeman has already moved to secure two other strikers this summer in an effort to soften the blow of Lukaku’s departure.

More from Chelsea FC

A move to Chelsea really seems inevitable. Reports claim that Lukaku wants to return to his former club and they certainly have the money to make a deal happen. Conte’s dissatisfaction with Diego Costa also puts the club in the market for a big time centre forward. There’s just too much smoke surrounding this situation to believe fire isn’t present as well.

The only real drama left is to discover just how much Chelsea will be forced to pay. Koeman and Everton are going to make negotiations a nightmare for Conte and company. Expect numerous reports of proposed and rejected bids before an actual agreement is reached.
