Brazilian Right Back Dani Alves has signed a 2 year deal with Paris Saint-Germain after he was released by Juventus a year after he joined them.
Few weeks back, there were reports that Dani Alves had agreed to join Manchester City and reunite with Pep Guardiola but surprisingly , the dynamic right back has turned his back on the Man City manager to join the Parisians.
A deal with Manchester City was reportedly in place but then PSG put forward a charm offensive that clicked. Antero Henrique and his assistant Maxwell, deserve credit for making this move happen.
The addition of Dani Alves in the Parisian squad shows that they have taken the task of rebuilding their squad seriously. He brings in a lot of experience and attacking options too , even though Thomas Meunier did a very good job last season. This move may certainly mean that Serge Aurier may leave PSG and has even been made available by the french club.
The 30th Brazilian to play for PSG, Dani Alves is sure to bring in the leadership qualities and the winning mentality that lacked in the team after the departures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Luiz. In addition to that, he’ll feel at home at Paris , given the already present Brazilian contingent of Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Lucas in the team.
Manchester City ,on the other hand, released many of its players ,especially defenders such as Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna . They needed a right back and Dani Alves was surely in Pep Guardiola’s plans for next season, while Kyle Walker is trying to be brought to the club as well.
The full back possess the same qualities as Pepe, the former Real Madrid center back who was touted to join PSG but made a shock move to Besiktas. The only difference between the two is that Dani Alves has an attacking mentality too. Unai Emery very well knows the talents Dani Alves possess from his time in Spain .
PSG announced the player today before they board the plane to the United States of America for the International Champions Cup on Saturday , where they face Roma, Tottenham and Juventus.
"I’m extremely happy to sign for Paris Saint-Germain, Dani Alves said after signing his contract. In all the clubs where I have played, I have always given my best to help my teams achieve as much as possible. Believe me, I am coming to Paris to win. I know the ambitions of my new club and the expectations of its many fans around the world. We’re going to share in some great times, I’m certain of that.”“I’m delighted and very proud to welcome Daniel Alves to our club, explained Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Paris Saint-Germain CEO and Chairman. Daniel has not only been one of the world’s best defenders in the last dozen years, he is also a recognised and well-liked figure among football supporters on every continent. His rigour and energy will add a lot to our squad, and our fans will love his hunger for victory, which will never stop driving Dani on. By choosing Paris Saint-Germain, Daniel has shown everyone the vitality and attractiveness of our project.”"
Dani Alves also appreciated the clubs project and even shed light on the Verratti to Barcelona transfer saga and joked that he came to PSG to play with Verratti and that if he was going to leave then there was no point in him joining this club.
