Chelsea question: Can Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi coexist?
Chelsea ace Cesc Fabregas warned Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi need to improve to compete with Europe’s best.
New signing Alvaro Morata is without a doubt the undisputed starter after joining Chelsea from Real Madrid in a £70 million move on Friday. But Cesc Fabregas has warned both Morata and Michy Batshuayi to “improve as quickly as possible.”
The Spain international had a terrific season at Madrid, scoring 20 goals in all competitions while behind first-choice forward Karim Benzema. He logged 1,872 minutes and averaged a goal every 94 minutes, which was the best of his career.
Fabregas informed Sky Sports:
"“They are two young strikers who will have to improve as quick as possible because they are our main strikers.“When you are the main striker for Chelsea you need to fight for all the competitions and if you are going to fight for all competitions you need your strikers to score lots of goals.“He [Morata] has a lot of potential, the same as Michy to improve. It’s up to them how far they want to go.”"
Is Morata worth what Chelsea £70 million splash in this market? SB Nation’s Lucas Navarrete seems to think otherwise.
Morata is expected to succeed Diego Costa after manager Antonio Conte revealed he is not part of his Chelsea project.

Batshuayi on the hand joined the Premier League champions last summer for £33 million, but saw just 702 minutes behind Costa.
Although he scored only nine goals for the Blues last campaign, including a goal that secured the league title, expect Batshuayi to improve immensely after one season under his belt.
Morata will get his chance to shine after the big money move, but will struggle to adjust his game to the English style. Yes, he’s a 6’2 forward, but he lacks the physical side of his game, something Batshuayi thrives on.

Conte has a history of revitalizing players and with excellent group of talented attackers such as Eden Hazard, Pedro, Willian, Fabregas and to a lesser extent N’golo Kante, Morata and Batshuayi can accumulate substantial numbers.
