Manchester United set to bid for Bale amid Real Madrid Mbappe move
Manchester United could be on the verge of making a huge bid for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale after reports that Real Madrid are set to sign Kylian Mbappe from Monaco.
Jose Mourinho teased Gareth Bale in the tunnel prior to the Manchester United and Real Madrid friendly, jokingly, hinting to Bale that he should force a move.
As reported by The Telegraph, Mourinho embraced Bale, whom Mourinho used to manage at Real Madrid, before quipping… “I cannot buy you because you do not talk up!”
And while Mourinho has dismissed reports linking Bale to Manchester, it’s becoming more feasible amid reports that Real Madrid are set to land Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe for a world record £161m. So Real Madrid would have to somewhat balance the books after signing the 18-year-old prodigy in accordance to Financial Fair Play rules (seriously does this even still exist).
Selling Gareth Bale to Manchester United would swing the accounts back in Real Madrid’s favor as even even after selling Morata to Chelsea for £60m earlier this week, they need to recoup some of that money spent.

Mourinho has been an admirer of the Welsh winger for some time and would be keen to bolster his attacking options on the wing.
Real Madrid will be keen to add to their squad as they have sold Alvaro Morata, Danilo, and loaned out James Rodriguez. And with Cristiano Ronaldo ageing, and Benzema failing to produce in big games, Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane will be extremely eager to add the French prodigy Mbappe to his squad.
If Real Madrid mange to sign their man, then Gareth Bale could certainly be on his way to Old Trafford which would spark a worldwide frenzy among Manchester United fans.
Bale has never quite lived up to his price tag, and even after a few promising seasons, his injury prone body has let him down a bit at the Bernabeu.
Manchester United have already spent big on Everton’s Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof but Mourinho has stated he wants at least two more signings.
"“Honestly, I don’t know. Ed is in control. He did Lindelof and Lukaku, he knows that I would like two more players, but he also knows that I have balance.”"
If Bale joins United, expect them to compete fiercely in next season’s Champions League and Premier League.
