Kylian Mbappe

Before the shocking developments that led to Neymar’s transfer, most eyes were on what would happen with Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Would he stay at Monaco for another year ahead of the World Cup, then leave after? Would he demand a move now?

More from Playing for 90

Underneath the Neymar eclipse, Mbappe has decided he’s ready to move on immediately. There were reports that he got frustrated at awaiting a contract offer from Monaco which, if true, is terrible malpractice from the reigning Ligue 1 champions.

Real Madrid are after him, PSG and Manchester City want in as well. Liverpool are lurking in the corner, posing no real threat to any of the big boys.

Barcelona is in the driving seat with all the money and ostensibly having a regular place in the starting XI open. He’s reportedly balked at the idea of going to Madrid as he didn’t see where he’d get regular playing time behind Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale, though the Welshman could be offloaded to make room.
