AC Milan best fit for Chelsea FC forward Diego Costa
By Evan Siegel
Diego Costa is looking for a new club. AC Milan are in position to build up their team after a slow process that has seen an infusion of youth, talent, and money. Diego Costa needs to be their guy.
Diego Costa, 28, has spent much of his career with Atletico Madrid and Chelsea, often with extremely high expectations from his teammates, managers, and fans.
Now that Costa has had more than enough time to show his talents at Chelsea, he looks just about certain to leave the club this summer and AC Milan are on the pursuit.
His former club, Atletico Madrid, is still an option for the Spaniard. The club has lacked a true striking force since his departure and appeared to be set to sign him only a couple of weeks ago. However, Atletico Madrid have yet to step up and make a firm bid for Costa, leaving the door open for Milan to try and swoop in.

AC Milan has been completely transparent with their interest in Costa. The club’s Sporting Director, Massimiliano Mirabelli, remarked that the club has Costa high on their list. “We are looking for a new striker and we cannot make a mistake.”
Milan has slowly assembled a stronger farm system and training ground. They appear to be closing the gap on Juventus in Italy, while trying to gain some traction across the European landscape.
Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte, has remarked that he sees no way for Diego Costa to return to the club. Milan must pounce on Costa, who can provide a solid number nine for the team for the first time in years.
Diego Costa is in a position to rebuild his reputation on a different team, in a different league, and in another country. AC Milan has the chance to provide Costa with that fresh start. Juventus’s possible loss of Paulo Dybala combined with the addition of Costa could launch AC Milan forward and possibly even leapfrog Juventus in the Serie A tables.
Chelsea captain Gary Cahill stated his concern, as quoted by ESPN FC, over the difficulty in replacing Diego Costa. “As a player, he will be missed. Diego Costa is Diego Costa.
He scores goals. He is an animated character and he is a big personality. He will be a big miss. We have obviously added to the squad with Alvaro and hat is a great addition to the squad, but you are always going to miss big players.”

AC Milan have slowly been building up the pieces towards a rebuild. With just a couple of moves, they will be in position to finally become relevant again in the European tournaments, and play for the Champions League, not a runners-up finish in the Europa League.
