There was quite a thrilling contest to kick off this season’s Premier League, with Arsenal scoring two late goals to beat Leicester 4-3.

However, what Arsenal must avoid is becoming too complacent with the result. They must look ahead to the next game against Stoke City and prepare.

Arsenal have had many fiery encounters with the potters in the past and they know that beating them isn’t easy.

Over the years, we’ve seen a clear pattern of how Arsenal’s seasons usually plan out, and they should look to distinguish that this season. They must look ahead to every game and prepare well in advance should they wish to succeed this time round.

However, on the reverse side of that, Arsenal did show a great change in tenacity in order to come back from a goal down with only 10 minutes to spare. It shows Arsene Wenger’s men do have a spine and that’s something that we haven’t seen enough in recent years.

But, there’s no excuse to over-celebrate the victory; as I said earlier, Stoke will be looking to pounce on Arsenal’s complacency.

It will be a similar game, Stoke will look to agitate Arsenal’s attackers just like Leicester did. However, after settling back into Premier League life and getting a win under their belt, Arsenal will be looking for a more comfortable win this time round.

Something that the Gunners have shown hints of recently is a two man strike partnership. There have been glimpses that we could see Alexandre Lacazette and Olivier Giroud on the same team and it could be most beneficial against teams like Stoke.

Stoke aren’t the most defensive of teams, but they’re certainly one of the most physical. They’re no strangers to aerial duels and the odd reckless challenge.

Lacazette isn’t physical enough on his own, he’s an excellent player but one of his rare flaws is that he’s easily dispossessed. Having the tall and physical stature of Giroud to win aerial duels and set Lacazette free could be the decider in this match.

To conclude, Arsenal are the favourites on paper, but they must focus and forget about the last match, despite how hard that may be.
