5. Mourinho always wins in his second season

Jose Mourinho has enjoyed a trophy laden career as a manager. He has won trophies with every club he has managed. It is in the second season when he really starts to assert his dominance. He has won the league title in his second seasons with Porto, Chelsea (twice), Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

And Manchester United fans will be hoping that he can achieve a similar feat with the club this season. While the Red Devils endured a disappointing league campaign last season, the signs of improvement were visible under Mourinho. Both the club and Mourinho will know that a fifth successive campaign without at least challenging for a league title will be disastrous for the 20-time champions.

And Mourinho’s signings suggest that he is ready to launch an assault at the Premier League title this season. United signed Romelu Lukaku right from under Chelsea’s noses before they weakened the Blues by signing Nemanja Matic. Two proven Premier League players have joined United this summer. And one more could be on his way if United can manage to land Gareth Bale.

It is clear that Jose Mourinho is building a powerhouse outfit to combat with the physical nature of the league. His players can out-muscle and bully any given team in the league.

Jose Mourinho has been known for his excellent home records over the years. If he can make Old Trafford a fortress this season, United will be a good bet for the title.
