Toni Kroos most overlooked transfer candidate
By Evan Siegel
Toni Kroos is one of the more undervalued and underappreciated players throughout the European landscape, and these two Premier League teams should open up their checkbooks for the German forward.
Toni Kroos has a seemingly untouchable bubble around himself. The twenty-seven year old is one of the most accomplished midfielders in the world, yet has not received all that much attention throughout the lucrative transfer markets. Several teams could use his services, in particular those looking to bolster their attacking prowess.
Kroos gained international attention thanks to his strong play for the German national team. His breakthrough performance came during the 2014 World Cup, where he was the driving force alongside Thomas Muller is a frightening attacking line. Formerly of Bayern Munich, Kroos is a coveted player amongst several teams in the premiership.
Manchester United and Manchester City have shown interest in Kroos in the past, both of whom have since made other adjustments to their constantly changing midfield. Kroos signed a three-year extension with Real Madrid last summer, but several teams should consider making a move for the German before too long.
Manchester United is an interesting team to watch for Kroos. Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, and Juan Mata are ideal teammates for a player like Kroos. Pogba, Lukaku, and Mata are gifted passers, but also have skills completely different from each other.
Paul Pogba is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. The combination of his pace and strength with Juan Mata’s passing ability and Romelu Lukaku’s attacking threat is the perfect venue for Toni Kroos to come in and become a force.

Kroos has experience playing in this type of environment. His time with the German national team is a very similar element to this current Manchester United team. Thomas Muller is comparable to Juan Mata in this scenario, in that he possesses the same type of passing and shooting ability from outside the box that few possess.
Paul Pogba and Mesut Ozil are also one of the same. While Pogba is bulkier and tougher to physically match up with, Ozil is every bit as skilled and can provide the same offense in the attacking third while also being a master of stopping the opposing breakaway. Kroos fits in with Manchester United like a glove, just like he does with his national team.
Kroos also is a strong fit for Chelsea. A move to Stamford Bridge would not be a tough adjustment for Kroos for one simply reason, Cesc Fabregas. The experienced Spaniard is a terrific all around offensive presence who when paired with Kroos can replicate some of the success he had with Andres Iniesta and Xavi while at Barcelona. Kroos’s pace, ability to hit from long-range and be a selfless passer is something that both Manchester United and Chelsea could both use.

The transfer window has been dramatic. Neymar, Mbappe, and Nemanja Matic are only three of a number of impactful signings that have occurred. But these two Premier League powers should look no further than Toni Kroos for some new reinforcements in their often suspect midfields.
