The days of the cavemen and rugby squad appear to be over

The true flash point in the Stoke versus Arsenal rivalry occurred in March 2010 when Shawcross almost ended Ramsey’s career with a horrific tackle.

Over the years that followed, Stoke City acquired a few less than endearing nicknames due to the club’s aggressive and unorthodox style of play.

Current Leicester defender Robert Huth was known as a hard man at Stoke and received his fair share of punishments.

Rory Delap was celebrated for his long throw ins as well as his towel. It would be interesting to know how much game time Delap wasted throughout his career drying the football before putting it in play.

It didn’t take long for fans to dub Stoke a rugby team and the cavemen.
