Chelsea FC: Blues coach Antonio Conte can get PSG star Grzegorz Krychowiak easily if deal for Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater falls through.

Chelsea FC have been in negotiations with Leicester City for midfielder Danny Drinkwater but have been told they will need to spend big to get him.

If the Blues board refuse to spend £40m to acquire Drinkwater, then a cheaper, more achievable option to loan or to possibly buy out-of-favor midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak from PSG is a better alternative.

Express Sport understand that PSG have made the 27-year-old Polish midfielder available. PSG have spent big with £200m splashed out on Neymar. They are eager to offload players who aren’t considered first team candidates.

PSG have already loaned out winger Jese Rodriguez to Stoke City for the season and it seems they are open to letting Krychowiak go too.

More from Chelsea FC

The ex Sevilla star has had a bumpy ride at PSG with current manager Unai Emery clearly not a fan of the Polish midfield destroyer.

Krychowiak only made seven starts for PSG last season and was clearly not in Emery’s plans for the future.

He would be an excellent replacement for former midfielder Nemanja Matic who joined Manchester United for £40m.

His performances in the Euro 2016 tournament for Poland were widely praised for his resolute defending and tackling. And while he may not have made much of an impression after joining PSG, he will certainly regain that form given the right coach and team for a much-needed confidence boost.

Chelsea FC head coach Antonio Conte can certainly turn the Polish midfielders form around and would make for an excellent option off the bench. He would likely compete with Tiemoue Bakayoko for a place in the team alongside N’Golo Kante. While Cesc Fabregas also remains an option; albeit less defensive one, in an attacking midfield role.

Despite Krychowiak’s decline in form he still produced decent displays as shown by his averages of 1.7 tackles and 1.6 interceptions per game (Whoscored).

However, at Sevilla, he was much more impressive after producing a fantastic return of 2.5 tackles and an astonishing 4.5 interceptions per game.

He would be a better option than Drinkwater defensively but may not have quite the same creative output with less assists, goals and long passes.

However if Chelsea FC are asked to stump up the ridiculous figure that’s being asked for Drinkwater then they’d be wise to snap up Krychowiak.
