Mauricio Pochettino has Tottenham in position to overcome Chelsea

Tottenham host Chelsea at Wembley in this season’s first London derby. Despite the fact that Chelsea enter the match as the defending Premier League champions, you’d be foolish to back them to overcome Spurs on the afternoon.

The fixture will certainly be a tense affair. Neither of these teams like one another in the slightest. Contests between the two squads have erupted in hard feelings, harsh challenges and a litany of cards over the past few seasons. Expecting fireworks during today’s clash isn’t a stretch of anyone’s imagination.

Still, when you strip all of the personalities and tension away from the match, it still comes down to talent on the pitch. Both Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte are blessed to have world-class stars all over their respective squads. When both teams are fully fit, you’d be tempted to give the edge to Chelsea. Of course, that isn’t the case for today’s encounter.

Both Tottenham and Chelsea will be missing important players, and both manager’s will need to adjust their lineups accordingly. The Blues will be missing the likes of Eden Hazard and Pedro, while Spurs will be forced to play without Danny Rose and (likely) Kieran Trippier.

There’s still plenty of talent on both sides of this battle to make for a very interesting encounter. Both teams are capable of winning the day, but read on to discover the top five reasons why Spurs will win the first London derby of the year.
