Barcelona not giving up pursuit of Coutinho
By Evan Siegel
Barcelona continue to be persistent with their pursuit of Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool, as they will now line up another bid of almost 140 million pounds.
Barcelona are lining up yet another bid for Phillipe Coutinho according to Sky Sports, despite being shut down multiple times and will have to pay well over 130 million pounds to Liverpool. The loss of Neymar has clearly rattled Barcelona who between their pursuits of Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele seem desperate to recover and get closer talent wise to Real Madrid.
Sky Sports reports that the Spanish giants are lining up a bid of 138 million pounds for Coutinho’s services, a bid so high it would equal well more than half of the money acquired from Paris Saint Germain for Neymar. Barcelona continue to show interest in rebuilding their midfield after reports of legend Andres Iniesta considering leaving the club.
Barcelona are overstepping their boundaries with this pursuit of Coutinho. An extremely talented young player, Coutinho is more than capable of being a consistent starter for the Blaugrana, but it simply does not warrant the ridiculous sum of money that Barcelona are willing to part with.
Such a signing would possibly mean the end for Andres Iniesta, or Sergio Busquets. The team is still high on Sergi Roberto, but are obviously looking for their next superstar in the midfield. There is without question something to be said for the need to get younger and faster in the midfield, but Barcelona are not in a position where Philippe Coutinho will push them past Real Madrid for supremacy in La Liga.

Ousmane Dembele is still the better option for the team going forward. Coutinho is five years older and less physically opposing than Dembele. While Coutinho may be more fundamentally gifted than Dembele, the potential for the young Borussia Dortmund star is simply higher and more exciting than that of Phillipe Coutinho.
The Spanish giants are at a talent deficit for the first time in years now that Neymar is no longer there. An aging attacking line combined with a behind-the-times midfield is slowly crippling a team that is not quite as feared as it once was throughout Europe. Barca must remember that PSG is significantly better after the big signing, and Real Madrid, Juventus, and Manchester United are not going anywhere.

For now, Barcelona are giving it one more go in their pursuit of Phillipe Coutinho. If Liverpool decide to reject this bid once again, Barcelona must bite their tongue and shift their interest somewhere else before it is too late.
