Tottenham will start their strongest XI against Dortmund

If Tottenham plan on advancing out of the Champions League group stage an opening victory over Borussia Dortmund is almost a necessity. That’s precisely why Mauricio Pochettino will start his strongest healthy XI against the Bundesliga opposition.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean the starting lineup will be quite as strong as Pochettino would like. At least two starters are certain to miss out on the fixture due to injury and suspension. Danny Rose still hasn’t recovered sufficiently from his knee injury last season and Dele Alli will miss the match due to suspension. Both men will be sorely missed by Pochettino.

Of course, their absence will provide massive opportunities to some of Tottenham’s bench players to step up. Some stars like Ben Davies have already proven they’re capable of filling in for Rose. The question of who will fill Dele’s spot in the starting XI is much more difficult to answer.

The one certainty is that the lineup Pochettino puts out against Dortmund will be the strongest XI he feels he can deploy. He understands the importance of getting off to a good start in Champions League play and ending any talk of a Wembley hex. Read on to discover the 11 Spurs stars he’ll trust to accomplish both objectives on Wednesday.
