Striker-Harry Kane

No Tottenham player was happy to flip the calendar from August to September than striker Harry Kane. He celebrated the advent of the new month by scoring two goals against Everton on the weekend.

Kane will need to look and play like his club’s offensive talisman if they’re going to defeat a club of Dortmund’s quality. He will need to serve as the focal point of the attack for the full 90 minutes. It’s almost a must score match for Kane. Anything less will be considered a massive disappointment.

Attacking Midfielder-Christian Eriksen

Fortunately for Kane, he’ll have Eriksen on the pitch to give him plenty of quality service. The Danish attacker has been on fire lately. His eye for an incisive pass could be the key to his club’s attack on the evening.

Eriksen isn’t just a threat to post an assist though. He also possesses a keen eye for goal. Outside of Kane, he’ll be Tottenham’s most dangerous scoring threat in this match. An Eriksen free kick could be the difference between winning and losing for Spurs.

Attacking Midfielder-Son Heung-Min

This represents Tottenham’s weakest point in the starting XI. Clearly Pochettino would prefer to start Dele in this spot, but that won’t be a possibility for the first three matches of the group stage.

Son enjoyed a prolific campaign last season for Pochettino, but he’s been pretty poor to start the 2017/18 campaign. He’ll need to improve his performance massively to make a difference in a match of this quality.
