5. Davinson Sanchez

More than a few Spurs fans were surprised to see Daniel Levy break the club’s transfer record on a central defender earlier this summer. After all, most believed the club needed to break the bank on a new attacking midfielder. The truth is, the club splashed the cash for Davinson Sanchez for matches just like this one.

After all, Dortmund’s single biggest asset in attack is their plethora of pace. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Christian Pulisic and company can absolutely fly. There’s no better way to combat their pace than by purchasing one of the fastest central defenders in Europe.

Sanchez isn’t the finished article, but he’s an athletic freak. His pace and power are his two biggest strengths at the moment. He has an innate ability to cover the mistakes of his teammates with his physical gifts.

He may be the Tottenham player under the most pressure today. If he can use his speed to negate Dortmund on a couple of key occasions he’ll give his squad a massive lift. I’m backing the talented Colombian to show up big in his first big match for Spurs.
