Centre Back-Davinson Sanchez

Look for the talented Colombian to get his third consecutive start for Pochettino. His ability to cover up defensive mistakes with his athleticism is an immense boon to the squad. All he needs to improve his performance is more playing time. As such, expect to see him get the full 90 minutes against Swansea today.

Left Centre Back-Jan Vertonghen

Vertonghen may have been sent off against Dortmund, but that doesn’t change his availability for this match. He’ll be excited to play against a defensive minded squad like Swansea. The talented Belgian will look for increased opportunities to get forward and contribute to his squad’s attack with Sanchez providing him valuable cover.

Right Centre Back-Toby Alderweireld

I briefly considered the possibility that Juan Foyth might get an opportunity today, but that’s a bit too much pressure to heap on the 19-year-old. It makes much more sense to give him his first opportunity during the midweek against Barnsley.

Like Vertonghen, Alderweireld will be anxious to get forward against Swansea. He, more than any other Tottenham defender is benefiting massively from Sanchez’s insertion in the squad. All the talk about Alderweireld lately has been about his contract, but that’s ignoring his brilliant run of form.
