Striker-Fernando Llorente

This is precisely the sort of match that Llorente dreamed about playing when he made his Deadline Day switch to Tottenham. Ok, that isn’t remotely true, but it’s still a match the club need Llorente to help them get past.

Vincent Janssen made a nasty habit of mucking these sorts of fixtures up. Llorente doesn’t need to play a starring role, he simply needs to convert quality chances at a reasonable rate. That’s what his Dutch predecessor failed to do, and what the Spaniard should be able to manage on Tuesday.

Keeper-Michel Vorm

If you don’t like Hugo Lloris, then this will be the match for you. Expect the French captain to get a little rest. That means that Michel Vorm will find himself in the starting XI.

Some Tottenham fans may wonder why Paulo Gazzaniga shouldn’t get the start here. After all, he is allegedly the more important long-term prospect. The answer is simple. It’s the price the club need to pay for having a player like Vorm serve as Lloris’ seldom-used backup. Vorm gets the chance to play anytime Lloris isn’t deemed necessary.
