Chelsea FC: Current and former Chelsea players have paid tribute to Spanish striker Diego Costa upon his imminent departure from the club.
Chelsea FC have finally agreed upon a deal with Atletico Madrid to sell star striker for around £58m plus potential bonuses.
Current and former Blues players have taken to social media to bid their farewell to the controversial striker. While the club itself has left an unusually cold and brief message on the official website simply stating that the striker will be leaving.
Usually when players leave a club after helping them win two major titles, the club leaves a more thankful gracious farewell message. But the bad blood between the two parties has obviously soured remarkably since.
Chelsea’s official website had an unusually short and frank post in regards to the departure of Diego Costa. The club posted a short sentence stating that they had agreed upon a deal to sell striker to Atletico Madrid. Usually the club post some kind of tribute message thanking a key player for their service but it’s hardly surprising given the bad blood between Costa and the club now.

Costa’s been a key figure for Chelsea after helping them win two Premier League titles with the club. The striker infamously fell out with coach Antonio Conte last season and was told by text message from Conte that he was no longer needed prior to this season.
The transfer saga has continued on for far too long for some Chelsea fans but the club have managed to double the fee they initially paid for Costa over two years ago.
Former Chelsea FC captain John Terry posted a photo on Instagram of Costa kissing the Premier League title and wished him good luck for the future while thanking him for his service to the club.
Terry described Costa as “one of the nicest and funniest guys” he has met in football and called him underrated.
The 29-year-old was known for his on-field and off-the-field antics which humored some, confused many and angered most opposition fans.
Terry’s post was also liked by club legend Didier Drogba, Willian, Marcos Alonso and another former legend Frank Lampard.
While Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi bid farewell to the striker calling him “crazy Diego” which was liked by John Terry and Cesc Fabregas.
Interestingly, Batshuayi was the only current Chelsea player to publicly post a message to the striker. Perhaps current players did not want to ruffle their coach’s feathers. Conte after all had a bad relationship with the rebel striker in the end and the club are even in legal talks with Costa’s representatives over fines due to not returning to training this season. While Costa’s legal team say that he’s been forced out.

But it seems now, after the striker has made his dream move back to Atletico and Chelsea FC have made a healthy transfer fee that the legal dispute will hopefully vanish.
