Manchester United have been one of the more aggressive teams in recent years when trying to buy players on the market, but their interest in Paulo Dybala is not the right approach to currently take.
Manchester United are the latest team to show extended interest in rising star Paulo Dybala. After a long connection with Barcelona that nearly saw the Argentine sold to the Blaugrana, Dybala may now be on his way to the Premiership.
According to Eurosport, United are preparing a $155 million bid for Dybala. Dybala’s stock has only gone further up since the beginning of the season, as he has hit the ground running with a fast start. The young star has scored ten goals in just six Serie A games.
Some of the world’s biggest teams have correctly begun to doubt whether or not the kind of investment that United and Barcelona are willing to make for Dybala is justified. Dybala is still only twenty-three years of age and has not made too much of an impact for his international team.
Dybala has made ten appearances for the Argentine national team, but has not scored once. This of course is in part due to the massive amount of depth at the striker position for the team. But United are taking a large risk as they hope to make this hefty investment in Dybala.

United have clearly been more willing to spend in recent years, but this move could be a bit too aggressive for a team in need of a more patient move. Dybala’s addition would be significant for the English power, but United are not in the ideal position to add Dybala.
United could still use a more traditional number nine striker. While Dybala could undoubtedly help add more scoring punch to United’s lineup, the team should look for a more traditional striker to loosen up the field for their talented cast of midfielders.
Juan Mata is a key part of this move. Mata is exceptional at setting up those in front of him, something he has had tremendous success doing at both the professional and international level. United should realize this trend and hold off on their pursuit of Dybala for the time being, or offer a more modest fee.

Paulo Dybala is arguably the most coveted player in the transfer market at the moment. But Manchester United’s interest has to be taken with more patience and modesty than they have started with.
