Manchester City: 31-year-old star in best form of his career at City-Pep effect
Manchester City: David Silva is in the best form of his career so far this season after notching up six assists already.
Manchester City playmaker David Silva is City’s best player at the moment in what has been a stellar start to the campaign this season.
Silva, at 31-years-old, has been playing his best football for City so far and has helped them to win their last two games 6-0 to Watford and 5-0 to Crystal Palace.
While not known for his goal-scoring- Silva has managed to make four assists in the last two games for Manchester City, making two against Watford and two against Crystal Palace.
And at a time when everybody is talking about their other playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, it’s actually Silva who is City’s most important player. Yes en more so than Aguero.

While Aguero will get all the headlines and goals, Silva has been chipping away- quite literally- after making countless amazing chipped through balls and passes to teammates.
Starting out at Valencia, Silva moved to Manchester City in 2010 shortly after the big money started to pour into the club, and Silva instantly made his mark. He made seven assists in his first season.
The nest season was even better after making 15 assists in the 1011/12 season and established himself as the king playmaker in the Premier League.
The following few seasons he notched up 8, 9,7,11 and last season 7 assists for Manchester City.
So it’s pretty promising the fact that he already has 6 assists in 6 games. If he continues on at this rate he will beat his record of 15 assists easily.
The creative Spaniard has been nicknamed ‘merlin’ for his magical way of weaving passes through a tight defence.
Silva has also made a stunning 3.8 key passes per game average which is the joint highest in the league.
Pep Guardiola has obviously got the best out of Silva and will be hoping he continues unlocking defences with amazing passes to set up Aguero, Jesus, Sane and co. Guardiola tends to favor creative players like Silva who can pick a pass and dribble with the ball at his feet almost Messi-esque. His system and formation also suits Silva and he seems to be taking the mantle as the main playmaker of the team instead of De Bruyne.
Although both are lethal passers of the ball on their day and to be fair, De Bruyne did set up Silva with two nice passes which led to the assists from Silva.
The 31-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down and could be set to have his best season yet in the Premier League. As long as he doesn’t get injured or lose his place in the team which is highly unlikely, then he should become City’s most valuable player.
Next: Raheem Sterling could still be headed to Arsenal
Manchester City will hope to win the Premier League title this season and will aim to go far in the Champions League- if not win it. They certainly have the squad quality to do it, and Silva is in the best form of his career.
