After Harry Kane, who is Tottenham’s best player?

There can be no logical argument that Harry Kane is not Tottenham’s best player. With all due respect to the rest of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, the English striker is on a plane all by himself. He’s a world-class centre forward and anyone who doesn’t see that is a complete fool.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t a fun debate to be had about the Spurs squad though. The much more interesting question is who occupies the spot just behind Kane. In other words, who is the second best player in Pochettino’s squad?

That’s the question I’m going to answer in this piece today. First, let me set a few ground rules for my evaluation. The question pertains to who is the second best player right now. I will not attempt to factor in who may become the best player years into the future.

It also assumes full health and reasonable form. In theory, I could choose Danny Rose as the answer despite his long injury layoff. I’m not going to, but the option exists nonetheless.

Without further delay, read on to delve into the question of who is actually Tottenham’s second best player.
